TELEPHONE SCAM ALERT

This is the telephone scam that appears to be doing the rounds.

The resident receives a phone call from someone pretending to be their bank.

They say that it looks like some fraudulent transactions may have taken place in the resident’s account.

The resident is advised to phone customer services using the telephone number on the back of their debit card, so assumes it must be correct as they think they have rang the Bank, not the other way round.

The resident hangs up but the person on the line doesn’t.

When the resident phones the number on the back of the card the original line has not been disconnected and the resident actually speaks to a second person that has been waiting for their call. YOU SHOULD ALWAY ENSURE YOU GET A DIAL TONE BEFORE DIALING ANY NEW CALL.

The resident is then advised to transfer funds to a new account – needless to say one held by the perpetrators.

Victims have had allegedly large amounts stolen and several banks say that customers have been defrauded in a similar manner.

No bank or building society employee will ever tell a customer to transfer funds over the phone from one account to another. NO Bank will neither ask for your PIN Number.
Please pass this information on to friends and neighbours.

Please inform the police if you receive a similar call of this nature.

SURVEY

FCS will be running a SURVEY for the three towns transport corridor early in May and would welcome any volunteers to assist, Free Coffee and the odd biscuit will be available, if you could spare a couple of hours once or more it would be most helpful, please contact Fred for more details. 07901 773276. Railway Station

I will be happy to speak with anyone over issues in Jumpers Ward, or other parts of the Borough, if you would like to visit me at the Railway Station, Platform 2 in FCS Resource Room in the mornings Mon - Friday. (I am raising funds for the new floral displays at this time). I will be there from 8.30am until 12.45pm, but the best time for discussion would be between 10.30 and 11.30 as this is the best  time.
