Day of Sport and fun at 2Riversmeet Leisure Centre
to launch Fit Christchurch
A programme of sporting and fun events for people of all ages have been arranged to launch the Fit Christchurch project at 2Riversmeet Leisure
Centre, Christchurch on Sunday 29 March 2009 from 12 noon to 3pm.
A competition to win a bike is one of the highlights.
Other prizes on offer are 6 months Gold Membership at 2RM and 4 beginners ski lessons at Snow Trax
Fit Christchurch aims to increase the number of people who engage in regular physical activity, eat healthily and achieve or maintain a healthy body mass. During the launch people will have the opportunity to try their hand at sports such as rowing, tri-golf, trampolining and boxing. They will also be able to have their fitness tested and find out their body mass index. A whole range of sporting and health organisations will be on hand to tell people about the opportunities that exist in Christchurch to get fitter. These include swimming, running, bowls, cycling, rowing, martial arts, as well as healthy food, healthy living and giving up smoking.
Children will be able to have fun with the Christchurch Play Rangers and there will even be a chance for them to get their faces painted. Pure Funk dance group will be performing at 1pm and Christchurch Strollers will be leading a health walk at 2pm. A special quiz will encourage people to visit different stalls to find out all the answers. The lucky winner, who will be picked from the hat, will win a new bicycle from Cycle Experience in Barrack Road. Second prize is six months gold membership of 2Rivermeet Leisure Centre with a third prize of four beginner’s ski lessons at Snowtrax.

Christchurch Community Partnership is hosting the showing of the film A Crude Awakening (PG) at the Regent Cinema on Sunday 29th April 2009 at 2.30 pm. The film focuses on how issues of Climate Change and "Peak Oil" can affect our lives. Come along and explore the issues at this film screening on Sunday 29 March 2009 at 2.30 pm or on Thursday 2 April 2009 at 10 am.

Admission is Free.
